Growing up, Dr. L had a dream to become a dentist. Deep down, he wanted to be able to help people who were in pain but didn’t have the resources they needed to afford dental care. His passion for patients continues today, providing comprehensive oral health care to people of all ages and backgrounds, including those in pain or suffering from a dental emergency.
A Unique Path to His Dental Career
Before becoming a dentist, Dr. L was a computer programmer, student pilot, and worked with his family in the restaurant industry. But he never gave up on his dream of becoming a dentist. Through plenty of hard work, late nights, enthusiasm, and the support of his family, he became the dentist he had always wanted to be.
Dr. L graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland Ohio, where he earned a Doctor of Medical in Dentistry (DMD) degree with Rank #1 in class in terms of clinical experiences. After graduating, he attended a residency, Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the Dayton Veteran Affairs Medical Center. His residency brought him with much experience in treating a high volume of difficult cases and helped him understand medically compromised patients.
Dr. L loves all aspects of dentistry, including restoration, crowns & bridges, implants, endodontics, and removable prosthesis, either partial or complete denture. He’s also a certified provider of Invisalign clear aligners.
Dr. L always treats his patients like his family members, and those patients love him for his competence as well as compassion.

Sompop Bencharit,
D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D., F.A.C.P.
Dr. Sompop Bencharit is an Associate Professor, Director of Clinical Research, and Founding Director of Digital Dentistry Technologies at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and College of Engineering. He received his DDS and Diploma in Prosthodontics from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. He earned his Certificate and Master’s Degree in Prosthodontics, a PhD in Oral Biology, as well as a Certificate in Clinical Research from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP), the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the International College of Dentists. He was recently awarded the 2021 ACP Distinguished Researcher. His current research interests are digital dentistry, guided implant surgery, 3D printing, and salivary proteomics.
Dr. Bencharit lectures nationally and internationally and has numerous publications in prosthodontics, implant dentistry, salivary biomarkers, and protein structural biology. He is currently serving as Assistant Editor for the Journal of Prosthodontics, Academic Editor for PloS One, Scientific Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports, and Editorial Contributor for the ADA/Elsevier Practice Update Clinical Dentistry.
Dr. Bencharit lives with his wife and son in Chapel Hill, NC. He always enjoys cooking and baking bread.
