A Unique Path to His Dental Career

Before becoming a dentist, Dr. L was a computer programmer, a student pilot, and worked with his family in the restaurant industry. But he never gave up on his dream of becoming a dentist. Through plenty of hard work, late nights, enthusiasm, and the support of his family, he became the dentist he had always wanted to be.

Dr. L graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, where he earned a Doctor of Medical in Dentistry (DMD) degree with Rank #1 in class in terms of clinical experiences. After graduating, he attended a residency, Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the Dayton Veteran Affairs Medical Center. His residency brought him with much experience in treating a high volume of difficult cases and helped him understand medically compromised patients.

Dr. L loves all aspects of dentistry, including restoration, crowns & bridges, implants, endodontics, and removable prosthesis, either partial or complete denture. He’s also a certified provider of Invisalign clear aligners.

Dr. L always treats his patients like his family members, and those patients love him for his competence as well as compassion.

Dr. L is fluent in both English and Thai

Dr. Sompop Bencharit is Professor and Assistant Dean for Innovation at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Dental Medicine. He was the Founding Director of Digital Dentistry Technologies and Director of Clinical Research at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). He received his DDS and Diploma in Prosthodontics from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand; and his Certificate and Master Degree in Prosthodontics, a PhD in Oral Biology, as well as a Certificate in Clinical Research from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC).

Dr. Sompop is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP), the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentists. He was recently awarded the 2021 ACP Distinguished Researcher. He has published over 90 peer reviewed articles and over 100 published abstracts. He is currently serving as Associate Editor for the Journal of Prosthodontics, Academic Editor for PLoS ONE, Scientific Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports, Editorial Board for the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics, and Editorial Contributor for the ADA/Elsevier PracticeUpdate Clinical Dentistry. He currently serves as Director for the International Association for Dental Research/American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR/AADOCR)-Prosthodontic Research Group. He is also serving as Research Committee Member for the ACP and American Academy of Osseointegration (AO).
